Yellow Rice

Ingredients

  • 2 cup Rice
  • 2 tbsp Butter or margarine
  • 2 tbsp Chicken stock powder
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric
  • 1 tbsp Garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin (optional)

Preparation

  1. In advance, mix all the spices together on the side.
  2. Also in advance, make the water for the rice (4 cups here) boil.
  3. Melt butter in a pan
  4. Add rice to the butter, and the spice blend. Mix together a bit to make the rice brown.
  5. Add a big ladle (about 1/2 cup) of water to help the spices spread out, and mix until rice is a uniform color.
  6. Put rice in the boiling water and cook it as normal.
