General Tao
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp Hoisin sauce
- 3 tbsp Soy sauce
- 3 tbsp Rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp Brown sugar
- 1/4 cup Corn starch
- 1 tbsp Garlic
- 1 tbsp Ginger
- 1 tsp Asian hot sauce
Thai chilis are also awesome, and even cayenne can work. - 1 tsp Sesame seeds
Can be put in the sauce while cooking, or served on top, or both. - 1/2 tsp Sesame oil
- 1 pinch 5 spices
Preparation
- Mix all ingredients, except the corn starch, into a pot. Heat up until it just starts bubbling.
- Add the corn starch while whisking. It should reach its maximum thickness within 30 seconds. Turn the fire to low.
- Add water and/or corn starch, a little at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
- Mix with tofu or chicken in the skillet, leave just long enough to coat thoroughly and reach desired texture.
